CLEonline.com, together with the Houston Bar Association (HBA), are pleased to present a special online CLE course in the area of immigration law. This program will cover four key issues relating to citizenship: 1) acquisition of citizenship with a focus on birthright citizenship and derivative citizenship; 2) naturalization rules, issues and risks; 3) children and citizenship with a focus on the Child Citizenship Act and 4) loss of citizenship including immigration impact of tax choices. This course features a streaming audio (as well as a downloadable MP3 audio) presentation from a live CLE seminar on this topic that was originally conducted by the Houston Bar Association (HBA) on November 1, 2013. You can access this presentation on demand at any time during the course of the seminar session.

Some of the subjects to be discussed during this course include:

* What are the 3 categories of citizenship

* What is birthright citizenship as defined by the 14th amendment

* What are the rules on acquisition of US citizenship?

* What are the rules on becoming a naturalized citizen?

* How can someone lose US citizenship?

* What are the special rules for citizenship of children
