CLEonline.com, together with the Houston Bar Association, are pleased to present a special online CLE course in the area of law practice management. This seminar covers an array of social media channels and the ethical guidelines necessary in order to operate them both successfully and lawfully. This course features a streaming video and a downloadable MP3 audio presentation from a live CLE seminar on this topic that was originally conducted by the Houston Bar Association (HBA) on February 21, 2015. You can access this presentation on demand at any time during the course of the seminar session. This course is approved for .75 MCLE Ethics hours.

Some of the subjects to be discussed during this course include:

  • What Is Social Media? Is It Advertising?

  • What Texas Disciplinary Rules Of Professional Conduct Apply?

  • 10 Tips For Avoiding Ethical Lapses When Using Social Media

The speaker for this course is Ms. Lavonne Hopkins, an attorney and managing principal with the Vinson & Elkins LLP in Houston. Ms. Hopkins handles cases in all areas of intellectual property, with an emphasis on technology and business transactions. She is admitted to practice in all state courts in Texas, and the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas. She is a member of the State Bar of Texas and the Houston Bar Association. She received her law degree from the University of Houston Law Center (J.D., 2011). A more extensive biography for Ms. Hopkins may be found on her firm's website.
