CLEonline.com, together with the Austin Bar Association, are pleased to present a special online CLE course in the area of immigration and naturalization law. Kate Lincoln-Goldfinch is an Austin immigration attorney who has appeared on National Public Radio (NPR) and has spoken at presentations across the country about the border detention centers. During this course, the speaker will address the country's current response to asylum seekers, the history of asylum law, and the rise in the detention of immigrants in prisons (including jails for families with small children). Currently, there are more than 1,000 mothers and children detained in privately-run prisons in Central Texas. Ms. Lincoln-Goldfinch will discuss her work with asylum seekers in detention, share stories of their plight and offer ways for attorneys to become involved in the resolution of this problem. This course features streaming video and audio (as well as downloadable MP3 audio) presentations from a live CLE seminar on this topic that was originally conducted by the Austin Bar Association on April 22, 2016. You can access this presentation on demand at any time during the course of the seminar session.

Some of the subjects for this course include:

    • History of Asylum

    • The Rise in Detention

    • Family Detention Centers

    • The Asylum Process

    • Asylum Law Updates

    • Credible Fear Interview

    • Advocating for Release

The speaker for this course is Kate Lincoln-Goldfinch of Lincoln-Goldfinch Law, an Immigration Firm. An extensive biography for Ms. Lincoln-Goldfinch may be found at her firm's website.
