Texas law provides the greatest protection of a debtor’s assets of any state due to the homestead laws which protect homesteads, vehicles, and other personal property from execution by a judgment creditor. In addition, Texas law prohibits wage garnishments by judgment creditors with very few exceptions. Nonetheless, judgments are collected in Texas and this helpful presentation will demonstrate some of the techniques and strategies available to a judgment creditor.

Butch also teaches Creditor’s Rights and Remedies at the University of Houston Law Center, first having taught in 1994 to 2000, and again for the Spring Semester of 2016.
