This excellent, in-depth CLE presentation will cover topics of immigration that also overlap or intersect with family law (such as VAWA, U-Visa’s, SIJS, asylum cases, and many other pertinent related subjects). This course will also address the confidentiality between lawyers who share a common client and ensuring the attorney has done due diligence, as well as making sure the client understands what obligations they have to their lawyers in disclosing facts relevant to the cases. This CLE program features streaming video and downloadable audio presentations from a seminar by the Houston Bar Association (HBA) on June 7, 2024. Some of the subjects include:

  • What is a "Marriage"?

  • Who is a "Child"?

  • Adoption

  • Special Immigrant Juvenile VISA

  • Family Violence and Qualifying Crimes

  • LGBTQ+ Specific Issues

  • Collaborations / Client Confidentiality / Interviewing and Trauma
