Kate Lincoln-Goldfinch is an Austin immigration attorney who has appeared on National Public Radio (NPR) and has spoken at presentations across the country about the border detention centers. During this course, she will address the country's current response to asylum seekers, the history of asylum law, and the rise in the detention of immigrants in prisons (including jails for families with small children). Currently, there are more than 1,000 mothers and children detained in privately-run prisons in Central Texas. Ms. Lincoln-Goldfinch will discuss her work with asylum seekers in detention, share stories of their plight and offer ways for attorneys to become involved in the resolution of this problem.
