Dane Ball, an attorney with the firm of Smyser, Kaplan & Veselka L.L.P.  Mr. Ball has successfully represented individuals and companies in their most sensitive legal matters, including some of the highest-profile litigation of the past decade. Though his public victories have drawn acclaim—such as the not guilty verdict for the BP well site leader wrongfully blamed for the Deepwater Horizon oil spill, and the dismissal of all charges against one of the longest-sitting members of the Texas House of Representatives—he is equally proud of the discreet ways he has helped innocent clients avoid charges in an array of government investigations. He earned his B.A. from Pepperdine University and his J.D. from Pepperdine University School of Law, summa cum laude. Over the years, he has appeared on television and radio and been quoted in newspapers across the country, taught at University of Houston Law Center, and written about cutting-edge white collar issues for national publications. More information may be found on his firm's website.

Alexander Wolf, an attorney with the firm of Smyser, Kaplan & Veselka L.L.P.  Mr. Wolf has been a key member of three trial teams that have won major victories in federal court: U.S. v. Roberts (jury acquittal in an insider trading case; M.D. La. 2017), U.S. v. Kaluza et al. (jury acquittal in a Clean Water Act case stemming from the Deepwater Horizon explosion and oil spill; E.D. La. 2016), and Quantlab Technologies Ltd. et al. v. Godlevsky et al. (multi-million dollar jury verdict in an intellectual property and theft of trade secrets case; S.D. Tex. 2015). Alex also assisted with the briefing before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit for Quantlab and Grand Isle Shipyards, a case arising from the Black Elk rig explosion in the Gulf of Mexico in 2012; the Fifth Circuit returned unanimous opinions in favor of SKV’s clients in both cases in 2017. He earned his B.A. from Cornell University, magna cum laude, and his J.D., cum laude, from Harvard Law School.  More information may be found on his firm's website.
